Nobody knows New York City like a local. Some of the cityโs notable locals are also the stars of Broadway. We talked with the star of The Heart of Rock and Roll, Corey Cott, about his favorite places in New York City.

Corey Cott from The Heart of Rock and Roll on His NYC Favorites
Tell us about your current Broadway role!
Cott- I play Bobby Stivic. At his heart, Bobby is an unfettered optimist who will go to any length to win. He was formerly in a rock band that failed, so he decided to give that up and pursue a career trying to add value to the world by climbing the corporate ranks at a cardboard company (think Charlie Sheen in Wall Street). The story ultimately chronicles choosing between a 1) steady executive job, 2) his creative passion for music, and 3) his love with a beautiful womanโwho just happens to be his boss! Itโs a blast.
How did you get your start in performing, and in what other shows have you performed?
Cott- I began performing in high school in Cleveland, OH. I did every musical and play I couldโOklahoma, The Pajama Game, Our Town, Anything Goes, Jesus Christ Superstar, and the list goes on and on.
What is your favorite Broadway show to see as an audience member?
Cott- This is hard! Besides the Heart of Rock and RollersโMJ might be the most electric show on Broadway. I couldnโt believe the energy coming off that stage. I was blown away. If you love Michael Jackson (even if you donโt) this is a must see.

What are your favorite NYC local tips?
Cott- The subway is always faster than a cab, so become friends with a local coffee barista and smile at strangers!
If youโre going out for a night on the town in New York City, where would you go?
Cott- Probably to a great meal at either Carbone, The Grill, or Torrisi.
Where are your favorite spots to send family and friends when they visit?
Cott- WatchHouse for coffee. Chelsea Market for great food and good vibes.
What is your favorite meal to enjoy in NYC?
Cott– I love brunch. Right nowโI am very into the steak and eggs at Friedmanโs in the Upper West Side. Thatโs been a regular meal during rehearsals and performances!
