Nobody knows New York City like a local. Some of the cityโs notable locals are also the stars of Broadwayโs multitude of fantastic shows. We talked with NaTasha Yvette Williams, who plays Mary Sue in one of Broadwayโs newest showsย Some Like It Hotย as Sweet Sue.ย

How did you get your start in performing and in what other shows have you performed?ย
Williams-ย I have been performing since age three. I started in Church and then school and then regional theater and then college and New York City. My Broadway Debut was Sofia inย The Original Color Purple. I was Mariah in THE Gershwinโsย Porgy and Bess. I was also inย A Night With Janis Joplin,ย TINA! The Tina Turner Musicalย Chicken and Biscuits, I played Becky inย Waitressย and Mama Morton inย CHICAGO.ย
What are your favorite NYC local tips?ย
Williams-ย My New York tip is, please, maโam, and please, Sir, donโt try to walk three and four people across on a busy New York sidewalk. Please leave room for both directions.

If youโre going out for a night on the town in New York City, where would you go?ย
Williams-ย I really think seeing Some Like It Hot would be an amazing night out in New York City. I love anything that allows me to escape, be happy, and learn new things.ย
Where are your favorite spots to send family and friends when they visit?ย
Williams-ย I love to go to theย Sugar Barย on Thursday Nights for Open Mic.
I loveย Melbaโsย for dinner, as well asย Glass House Tavernย andย Brooklyn Chop House.ย
I love sending people to Liberty Island or at least on the ferry to ride by theย Statue of Liberty. I love sending the family to New Jersey to look at NYC from the other side of the river. I just love the lights.ย
What is your favorite meal to enjoy in New York City?ย
Williams-ย My favorite meal is a seafood Boil atย Aqua Boilย or a Killer Bee Pizza fromย B-Side Pizza Bar.
