Five Foodie Finds in Mammoth Lakes

Shelter Distillery

Ski resorts donโ€™t often offer a variety of great dining options, but The Village at Mammoth is a foodieโ€™s paradise! With an abundance of restaurants and bistros, this charming village in California offers something for everyone. From local farm-to-table dining experiences to casual outdoor eateries, visitors will surely find a unique culinary adventure that tantalizes their taste buds. Mammoth Lakes has everything, whether you are in the mood for a juicy rib-eye steak or a plant-based meal. We were invited by the Mammoth Lakes Tourism Board to check out some of the Mammoth Lakes dining sceneโ€”and we werenโ€™t disappointed!ย

Shelter Distillery

While the term distillery might not imply great food, youโ€™ll be pleasantly surprised at Shelter Distillery. The restaurant is located in the center of The Village at Mammoth and offers a fun selection of global cuisine options like the Poblano Artichoke Dip, Tempura Shrimp, Warm Pretzel Rol, and a selection of flavorful salads and pizzas. We popped in one night to find a lively atmosphere complete with a trivia competition, making the restaurant a perfect spot for an apres hang with friends to unwind after a day on the slopes, the hiking trails, or the water. If youโ€™re opting to bring food back to your room to unwind quietly, the restaurant offers mobile ordering via Toast Tab, making it convenient to schedule your pickup time and get your meal to go.

Mammoth Brewing Co.

Thereโ€™s no mistaking Mammoth Brewing Co. as one of those โ€œbrewery restaurantsโ€ that just kept the concept in the name only. Upon entering Mammoth Brewing Co., you can tell that the companyโ€™s first priority is its brewing in the amazing selection of craft brews. The space is home to the companyโ€™s brewery, beer garden, tasting room, retail store, and EATery by Bleu, which serves up fantastic accompaniments to complement your beer selection. The brewery sells beers for pickup, including bottles, cans, and growlers. If youโ€™re dining in (or taking your meal to go), check out the delicious selection of eats, including Brewery Bread Fries, Gordo Birria Beef Short Rib Tacos, Crispy Chicken and Griddle Cakes, and the sweet Campfire Cookie Skillet.

If youโ€™re heading into the village early to get a quick start before hiking, skiing or hitting the water, make a stop at Vida Coffee. The coffee shop features plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, a fantastic menu of hot and cold coffee and tea drink selections, and plenty of breakfast pastries, both savory and sweet. Pastries are heated for you in-house, so you can enjoy a warm breakfast on the go.
