A visit to Grand Bazaar NYC, the largest and one of the oldest weekly flea markets in New York City, is like opening a treasure chest; you never know what riches youโ€™ll uncover.

This indoor/outdoor market is open year-round every Sunday from 10 am to 5:30 pm so, no matter the season or the weather, Grand Bazaar NYC is a great way to spend a day in Manhattan. Located in the heart of Manhattanโ€™s Upper West Side just one block away from the American Museum of Natural History and New York Historical Society, Grand Bazaar NYC is home to up to 200 curated vendors including local artists, designers, craft-makers, and independent vintage and antique dealers. They sell a mix of one-of-a-kind, collectible, and handmade items. Since many don’t have websites or sell online, this is the only place to find their unique goods. The market even boasts an impressive lineup of artisanal food vendors including Solber Pupusas (a Vendy Award winner),ย diRiso Risotto Balls,ย Kimchi & Dumplings, Dolce Brooklyn gelato and Freak’n Vegan.

Some stand-outs include the marketโ€™s oldest vendor, Mathilde Freund, a 101-year-old Holocaust survivor who speaks seven languages and sells antique and vintage wares. There’s Larry, also known as โ€œThe King of Flea,โ€ who has been selling at the market since it started more than 30 years ago. He calls his business โ€œLarryโ€™s Urban Treasure Hunt.โ€

Dozens of customers line up before the market opens to rush to his tables and be the first to dig through his interesting mix of antiques, collectibles, housewares, art, and other odds and ends.

Epperson, a fashion designer who appeared on season six of the hit TV show โ€œProject Runway,โ€ sells intricate handmade womenโ€™s and menโ€™s fashion. Wavelength Antiques sells antique radios that have been restored and made Bluetooth enabled; and Toaster Centralโ€™s “toaster man” sells working antique toasters, waffle irons and small kitchen appliances.

Find trusted and knowledgeable dealers selling fine 19th and 20th-century American sterling and continental silver housewares from designers like Tiffany and Gorham in addition to exceptionally knowledgeable dealers selling vintage Rolex, Patek Philippe, LeCoultreโ€Ž, Cartier and Omega watches in great condition.

Grand Bazaar NYC has a reputation for having one of the largest and best selections of jewelry vendors in New York City. Rotating talented local designers who make everything by hand, even custom work in addition to independent antique dealers who sell high-end jewelry to celebrities. Some vendors even use historical New York City items to create unique wearable jewelry.

The altruistic icing on the top of the cake is that Grand Bazaar NYC donates 100 percent of its profits to four local public schools that benefit more than 4,000 children. This mission was started by a group of parents as a โ€œweekend yard sale,โ€ and has grown to support the funding of enrichment programs, classroom teaching assistants, books, supplies and other activities.

Grand Bazaar NYC also organizes special themed events throughout the year like the NYC Food Truck Fest, NYC Home Decor & Furniture Bazaar and NYC Artisan Jewelry Bazaar plus shopping pop-ups with Etsy New York, The Seed NYC and Hudson Valley Artists and Made in NYC. Pick up your holiday gift at Grand Holiday Bazaar where Made in NYC will kick off the 2017 holiday shopping season with a special pop-up on two consecutive Sundays at the Upper West Side.
