Guacamole at El Segundo Sol

Mexican food is a favorite around the world because of the fresh ingredients used and its incredible flavor. In fact, Tuesday is universally known as Taco Tuesday, celebrating one of the most popular Mexican dishes. There is no better way to start the meal when enjoying Mexican cuisine than with some guacamole and tortilla chips. It is one of the most popular Mexican appetizers.

Great Guacamole

As long as you don’t put too much salt in it (or indulge in too many tortilla chips), guacamole, a popular Mexican appetizer, has some great health benefits. Guacamole is generally made from avocados, tomatoes, lime juice, onions, herbs and spices. The avocados contain a healthy fat called oleic acid which may help reduce inflammation and the risk of heart disease. There is also a high amount of fiber in guacamole which helps aid in healthy digestion, and guacamole is also a good source of vitamins. It contains vitamins E, C, B and K. Collectively; these vitamins have numerous health benefits. Here are 5 Mexican restaurants in Las Vegas that will “GUAC” your world.

Nacho Daddy

Nacho Daddy’s award-winning margaritas are reason enough to stop by one of its locations around the city, but the restaurant’s gourmet nachos are going to keep you coming back. The “Fiesta Nacho,” “Supreme Tostada Nacho,” “Fajita Nacho” and ”Filet Mignon Nachos” all include guacamole in the ingredients. If you want the guacamole by itself along with the house-made chips, order the guacamole & chips—triple the fun with the “Triple Dip,” which includes guacamole, queso dip and salsa. If you feel brave, try Nacho Daddy’s “Original Scorpio Shot” along with your guac and chips. It’s a shot of Cenote Reposado tequila, salt, a lime wedge and a scorpion in the glass. Yes, you read that right!

Ghost Donkey

Ghost Donkey is a speakeasy for lovers of mezcals and artisan Mexican spirits. You will have to explore Block 16 Urban Food Hall at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas to find the secret door that leads to Ghost Donkey. The search will be worth it once you taste the expertly curated tasting flights, craft cocktails and guacamole. The guacamole here is simple and satisfying, served in both the traditional recipe or with spicy crab for an elevated experience.

El Segundo Sol

Dining at El Segundo Sol is a lovely Mexican dining experience. The menu offers authentic Mexican staples like tacos, enchiladas and fajitas and the restaurant is located at the Fashion Show Las Vegas. Its breathtaking view from the patio overlooks the stunning Las Vegas Strip, and the bistro lights make it a perfect oasis in the evening. El Segundo Sol is a must for guacamole. Guests can enjoy fresh guacamole made tableside with Del Rey Farms avocados served with tortilla chips and salsa. Stop by during the loco hours from 3:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. from Monday-Thursday. Enjoy margaritas and other cocktails for under $7, while all draft beer is under $5 and loaded nachos with guacamole are priced at $5 too.

Juan’s Flaming Fajitas & Cantina

The restaurant’s name may be inspired by the sizzling fajitas served here, but Juan’s Flaming Fajitas & Cantina has a menu full of other Mexican favorites, including guacamole. The guacamole is made tableside so guests can enjoy the experience of watching the dish come to life. They participate in the experience by choosing their ingredients, and the guacamole can be made as mild or spicy as the guests desire. All dishes at Juan’s feature only the freshest ingredients and are known for flavors inspired by traditional Mexican cuisine. Visit the restaurant daily from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. daily for happy hour. Happy hour food specials featuring guacamole include taquitos, “JFFC’s Nachos,” “JFFC’s Quesadilla” and “Juan’s Sampler.”

Casa Calavera

Comb your hair and put on the lip gloss before walking into Casa Calavera inside Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. You have to almost be as Instagram-ready as the restaurant is Instagram-worthy. The restaurant is lined with Dia de Los Muertos décor with an expansive outdoor patio overlooking the spectacular hotel pool. An energetic dining ambiance complements the open-air dining concept. The spirits menu features an expansive selection of tequilas and twists on the classic margarita. The traditional Mexican menu includes three different types of guacamole dishes which are perfect for the guacamole lover. The “Classic” includes tomatillo, onion, jalapeño, cilantro and lime. The “Pomegranate Jicama” is a green apple and mint mixture, while the “Chipotle Bacon” comes with chorizo, adobo and cotija cheese. Pick your favorite (or just get all three).
