St. Patrick’s Day in New York City is more than just a celebration or a holiday where everyone wears green; it’s a vibrant tribute to the deep-rooted Irish history and culture of Ireland that has shaped the city for generations. From its iconic parade, which is the largest of its kind in the world, to countless community events, the city comes alive with shades of green and the sounds of Irish music. The Irish people have played a significant role in New York’s story, arriving in waves during the 19th century and leaving an indelible mark on its neighborhoods, politics, and cultural fabric. Today, St. Patrick’s Day serves as a reminder of this enduring legacy, blending history with the joy of modern-day festivities as a tribute to Irish history in New York City—it’s not all shamrocks, green beer, and leprechauns. Try your luck at these three events on and off Manhattan to celebrate!

A true Brooklyn tradition, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade includes a Mass at Holy Name of Jesus Church, followed by a vibrant procession featuring bagpipers, marching bands, and Irish dancers. After the parade on March 16, 2025, guests can head to the after-party at Shepherds Hall for music, a corned beef and cabbage dinner, and good cheer in a heated tent. This community-driven event captures the unique Irish spirit of Brooklyn. A similar parade is set to take place in The Brox on March 16, 2025 as well.
The iconic NYC St. Patrick’s Day Parade attracts thousands of visitors annually and is one of the largest celebrations of Irish heritage in the world. The parade begins on Fifth Avenue at 44th Street, spanning to 79th Street, and features everything from bagpipers and marching bands to Irish dancers and antique cars.
